Trey Meehan

It all started years ago when I was 6 and I was at my babysitters house. Her name was Chrissy, and she babysat me till I was in fifth grade. I made lifelong friends at Chrissy’s house. Five kids went there the same time I was there, and we all stopped going in fifth grade.
There were two girls and three boys including me. The two girls’ names were Allie and Alexis (my sister), and the boys’ names were Elliot, Emerson (my best friend ever) and me.  Emerson and Elliot were brothers and they went to Patrick Henry. Allie went to Cave Spring, and my sister and I went to Hidden Valley.
We all played outside every day, and Chrissy had a bunch of wagons, tractors, and bikes. You had to have guts to ride down the hill with the bikes, and the first person to ride down was Elliot. The girls never did it because they were scared but me and Emerson did it at the same time. There was also a big vicious red wagon, but nobody wanted to go down it. It was the scariest thing anyone ever saw.
So one day they all dared me to go down the hill with the red wagon. I was so nervous but I had to do it. they were all saying, “Come on Trey don’t be a wimp!”
I didn’t want to be a wimp, so when everyone was outside they all yelled, “3, 2, 1!”
Emerson pushed me down the hill. I was flying down the hill but then I couldn’t stop! I was heading straight to my own funeral! I had a decision to make, to jump out or take it like a man. I stayed in the wagon, closed my eyes, and hoped for the best. BANG! I hit the house. Well, I thought it was the house but it wasn’t. It was the gas meter, and now a loud repeating beeping was coming out of the meter. I was so scared I was crying, and all of the kids jaws dropped. Their faces looked like a pale white ghost.
Chrissy ran outside and said, “What did you do?”
Ten minutes later a police car showed up, then a fire truck, and then an ambulance. The policeman came up to us and said, “It’s ok, you didn’t do anything wrong. Want to look in all of the cars?”
Since I was still crying they calmed all of us down and showed us all the stuff inside their cars. It was awesome.
Looking back at it now I wouldn’t change a thing, because that taught me to take a risk and it will all work out. Now I want to be a firefighter and that firetruck gave me the most interest. All of the kids thanked me for doing it, and I felt like a champ. Lets just say I didn’t go down the hill in that wagon for a very long time.
