Alex Arellano

We are all sitting in the lobby of this weird building. We drove about an hour out. It felt like five hours even though it was only one. We didn’t know who the team was or what court we will be playing on. It looked like some weird athletic center with a hotel-like lobby. The gym was split in half, half baseball and half basketball. But, one thing that we are all worried about is James. James is our star point guard, and he could score when we needed him to. He was key to our team and was one of our best players. He wasn’t at school today so we all are wondering what happened. We all knew he was the key to our success. He led us to all of our wins and tried his hardest every game. And he is nowhere to be found. We all sit there in a huddle-like formation. We all think that we will lose, but we are trying to stay positive. The pressure is starting to get to us. Almost already sweating from being so nervous. Then as we are about to pray before the game, we hear a door open and we see James. We all shrieked in amazement and we all scream “James!”
 Someone says “where were you?”
James answers with “I am very sick”.
So we go into the game and he’s already going off. He is making shots left and right. The second quarter is about to end and then he hits a three-point buzzer beater. He is making back to back shots, lay ups, three pointers and jump shots. We are leading by ten points at the half. So, we know that we have it in the bag. We go through plays and all of the normal half time routines. We go into the third quarter, and we all play like no one’s business. We all got open shots and set screens. At the end of the quarter James hits another buzzer beater. He then keeps on going and never got tired.
It was one of the greatest basketball games I’ve ever seen. Everything went good for us. We got open looks every fast break. We also made fifty percent of our shots, which is really good the average shooting percentage is thirty percent. We got at least five and-ones, an and-one is where you make the shot and draw the foul. That gives you a chance for a three point play. We played at a high school level when we were in sixth grade. We had fun and had a nearly undefeated season that year, we only lost two games. We started playing junior varsity high school teams. They were closer games but we still managed to win them. That was a dream-like game, and the other team was a good team. It was just that they weren’t making their shots. They were even missing layups, and free throws.
